Winter has come

Winter has Come

Ere in the time of chill
And winter skys be grey
Trees are seen though bare
Are full of life unseen.

Truth tis told,
Squirrels scamper up and down
Their bounty most unseen.

In whitened trees
yet bare, brown, stark
Sit against the dawn
For spring soon comes
Its banner flys
On hastening winter skys.

Here sit I in castle dim
And think of times not here.
No one knows nor speaks
The hour nor date
Whence comes the Son of Man.
